We are BROOKS and Bourke.

Brooks and Bourke Theatre Company began in August of 2015. After years of planning and dreaming, Stephen Brooks and Ted Bourke decided it was time to embark on a new adventure. Recognizing that a majority of theatre is only accessible to the middle and upper class communities, Brooks and Bourke is a theatre company that strives to produce shows that are high-quality and accessible to all families in our community—starting with a low ticket cost. We are a community theatre where people who love the arts can volunteer and audition to be a part of shows throughout the year. We love working with people who are just getting involved with performing as well as those who have been part of the theatre community for many years. We thoroughly enjoy working with actors who have a deep passion for theatre and who want to share theatre with friends, family, and the community.

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Ted Bourke attended Ball State University and graduated with a double major in English Education and Theatre Production. He's participated as both an actor and director on numerous musicals and plays throughout his career including Godspell, Oklahoma, Bye Bye Birdie, The Sound of Music, Love's Labour's Lost, Urinetown: The Musical, Season of Joy, Songs for a New World, Annie, The Music Man, Foolish Wiseman, Arsenic and Old Lace, Romeo and Juliet, The Pajama Game, Harvey, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Ted's passion for theatre makes him a valuable asset to the team.

Stephen Brooks attended Mid-Atlantic Christian University and graduated with a degree in Music and Worship Ministry. Since the fourth grade, Stephen has studied piano and music theory and has worked diligently to educate others as well. Stephen has directed a variety of musicals and plays and has served as co-choreographer for some productions, and the music director on many shows including Godspell and Godspell Jr., Season of Joy, BelieveInto the Woods, Oklahoma, The Pajama Game, Aladdin Jr., and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Stephen and Ted co-direct most Brooks and Bourke shows while taking on the responsibility of other aspects of each production as well, such as set design and construction, costume design, lighting design, and more. This versatility is very valuable for keeping shows cohesive while still keeping costs down to allow for affordable tickets.
